This looks like a burger: Two layers, clearly distinct by colour, and separated by a dust lane. I'm not sure whether these are two merging elliptical galaxies or whether it is just on with a dust lane - however, what would cause the colour difference then?

ThI don't think that is a dust lane. Looks like two distinct galaxies to me.
If ht emajority of the star population consists of older, redder stars, the galaxy will look more orange. If on the other hand there are more younger, bluer stars the galaxy will appear more bluePosted
