Is this a bar I see before me? And is this a ring?

This spiral galaxy presents 2 issues. The 2 arms, at the center, appear to cross beside the central disk before spiraling out. Am I seeing a bar -- or just the beginnings of 2 arms? Also, each arm curves around almost to meet the other arm. If they do, would I be seeing a ring? I do have a collection of figure 8s started.

Yes, me thinks you do see a bar, my lord. However, this would not be classified as a ring. Think of what a smoke ring or steering wheel looks like. That's a ring. 😉
