Is this a cluster of stars or Galaxies

  • Tockolock by Tockolock

If it is just a random group of stars all well and good we can classify it as a group of stars. But if the image was 500 to 1000 million light years away then the image is not of a group of super massive stars but a group of galaxies in the process of merging which would be of great interest to Astronomy . I don't think the community checks every image before they are put up for us to classify but if we keep classifying this type of image as stars we may be doing the researchers a disservice in loosing or hiding by default valuable data for them. If we start to classify this group of images of interest we will be defeating the object of our work snowing researches under with useless extra work. I am certain this is a group of stars or is it?
