I am suddenly having doubts as to whether this is a merger or an overlap. The galaxy with the dustlane doesn't look disturbed.

As for the spiral galaxy, the nucleus seems intact. However there may be some starforming regions to the right of the spiral galaxy.

And what about the arc or line of stars at the top. Did it belong to the spiral galaxy?

This is a great case for astronomers to study, observe and determine whether this is a merger or an overlap.
