Squid shape

The blue patch is probably an artifact but the shape of the galaxy if its that defies easy description. Help?

What an amazing merger, probably with at least one spiral galaxy.
The blue patch is indeed an artifact. The bright spiky thing is a foreground star from our galaxy.

poss too regular to be a merger, appears to have four right angled arcs looping downwards from the centre, perhaps a product of the core?
