Galaxy Classification

I am interested in the bright object slightly in front of the disc galaxy in the photo; it is extremely bright. It also has feature in the center, which almost looks like a question mark. I am new at this, so it may be just a closer star, but I've never seen anything quite like it before. Any comments?

The bright object is indeed a foreground star from our galaxy. The colors, spikes and weird center are all optical artifacts.
