good learning example

Ignoring what I believe to be a star above, and focusing my attention on the central golden object with the bright central area ... would it be best to call this one of the "smooth" objects, or one of the "feature" objects? Which side is it best to err on? It looks like a galaxy because of the bright central area, but with no distinguishable arms. Comments and suggestions are welcomed.
