About to merge, or just illusion?

Based on the angle of this picture it seems these two galaxies are about to merge, but one could be a different size than the other so maybe it might just look as if they would... How can one tell the approximate size without being an astro-physicist, or astronomer, if possible? Either way it's an amazing picture, and feel honored to probably be the first one to see this.

By just looking at this image it is impossible to say if these galaxies are physically close together.
There is not much distortion, so I don't think these are interacting.
(But I could be wrong of course ! )Posted
