Unusual object

    Working on assuming that I was to help identify the cigar shaped galaxy in the centre, I am wondering what the bright object on the left is. It appears to be a bright orange light behind a blue/purple object although it is hard to tell if both sets of light are emitted from the same object or if it is a strange eclipse effect.

    It is foreground star. This purple thing is some sort of optical artefact IMHO.
