  If I understood it correctly, DR9 is the latest and improved database.

  The SDSS images in this version of GZ are from DR8, which is why these link there. Nice catch!

  As I understand it, there's (essentially) no new photometry in DR9 (it's the same as DR8). The big difference between DR8 and DR9 is that the latter has a lot more spectroscopic data.
