is it just me?

I thought it was just a merger, but is it possible that could be a black hole?

No merger ! The white object is a foreground star from our galaxy..

If black holes were glowing yellow, they would not be called black. Don't you think? 😉 Objects you see on this picture are many, many, many times bigger than biggest black hole ever. Indeed they might be close in time and space, so they could be possibly mergers, however I can not see any interaction yet!

You cannot see black holes though as light doesn't escape their gravitational pull.

You can see the signs of activity that only happen very, very close to a black hole, but outside the event horizon (inside which light cannot escape). When astronomers talk about observing a black hole, that's often what they mean.
