Two bright white spots

  I called this an elliptical ring galaxy because of the two bright white areas on either side of the bulge. It doesn't seem to be a merger. What are the two white areas?

  This galaxy is definitely not an elliptical. I'd go for barred spiral. The two white spots at the ends of the bare are called ansae and are not supernovae.
