busy region of space

central galaxy seems somewhat lost when viewed in inverted and compared to the three objects to it's SE, NE and N. all three seem to have some irregular luminosity on one side of them. would be interested to know what they are and what causes the irregularity.

They are just foreground stars, with some filter fuzz caused by them being out of focus/overexposed, as the camera is focusing on the distant galaxy.
