    I wrote about this phenomenon in an OOTD (Object of the Day) in the GZ forum some time ago, There's a hole in the sky (several actually). Basically near bright stars (and some galaxies) the SDSS camera's photometry is unreliable, so no photometric objects are recorded. Spectra are much less bothered, so this object has a spectrum! 😃

    thanks a lot for this clarification. I did think there WAS something, good to know how to 'make it appear'... and it was also due to my way of searching on DR (I used to copy paste the coordinates on the websites instead of following the links provided by GZ). has any IT professional tackled the problem straight on the SDSS program ? or are they waiting for some AstroHacker to propose a new coding 😕
