Question about the tail

  I see a disturbed, barred spiral. Could the bar be the tail you are referring to ?

  Not sure.
  You can see in the right upper corner a dark red one.
  If you look now from there to the center of the galaxy, you can see (better if you zoom in) a tail of lighter
  blue pixels on the edge of the galaxy than the environment.

  The dark red object, top right, is probably a foreground star from our galaxy. The tail of lighter blue pixels is probably just noise.
