Unusual centre

This galaxy is round but has a dark ring (oblong) in its centre - I am not very experienced, but I have not seen this before. Is it unusual or if not, what is it about?

It is a barred spiral galaxy 😃 It just looks odd as it is being viewed through a local star cluster.
