    I think all the objects in the center of this image are stars, in our own galaxy, the Milky Way. They look strange - weird color gradients, elongated shapes, etc - because this is a #poorqualityimage ... perhaps the air at the time was unusually unsteady, or the camera somewhat out of focus or fogged up, or something messed up the software (the processing pipeline), or ...
