Green nebula next to the Planetary Nebula

  • Alpha_Aurigae by Alpha_Aurigae

Any ideas as to its origins?
I suspect it may be a layer of the central star ejected just before the star went boom and created the PN.
Or did a shockwave hit the interstellar gas and dust?

I suspect this star wouldnt have exploded but rather shed its outer layers of it RED giant phase. I looked at this in the different wavelengths available on the 'examine page and that cloud seems to extend down the whole right side of the image. good eye Aa

Thanks, Billy, it just caught my eye and I wondered if this was real or an artifact.

IMO I think it is real, could be visible in DSS image
