A halo of different color

Why is there a halo like that? Might it be a part of a galaxy that differs in mass or temperature? Or is it some sort of lensing effect due to gravity or something?

It;s a star in our galaxy that has photographic problems and should be classified as an artifact. There's no halo or lensing, just bad imaging. The bigger picture also shows a boundary edge. A common problem.
