Differentiating normal and #S0 #SB0 #evolved object in R-band or I-band images?

Is there any way to make a differentiation between #normal and #evolved objects in R and I band images? I these bands would tend to show the under lying older (population II)? stars

I've seen lots of these weird galaxies. Bright core, bar, but no arms and a halo. Any ideas?

Could be a lenticular.

Looks like a barred galaxy with a faint nuclear ring. This is an I-band image so can't tell if this is a normal galaxy or an #evolved #SB0

Nuclear rings are close to the core of the galaxy and are within the ends of the primary bar. This is not one - would go with SB(L) myself
