Red spots (noobie)

    What's this little red spot in the middle here? I've seen others that are really saturated, too.
    Is it something to do with its shiny middle being overexposed or something? If it were a star it would have diffraction spikes, right?

    This is a Illustris simulated galaxy, my guess is that it is supposed to the galactic core.

    Yes, the reason why we are classifying the Illustris simulated galaxies is to highlight possible shortcomings in the model. The human eye is (currently!) better than a computer to do that 😃
