Not merging because different colour?

Hi, noobie here.
Seen a couple like this, have assumed they aren't merging because of the difference in colour and the blueish/bottom one sort of seems to be closer? They don't look like they're interacting like others do.. Is this correct?
Thanks 😃Posted

(by "closer" I mean it appears to be in the foreground)

Hi Mo0ky
In trying to figure out if galaxies are merging, you should look for signs of interaction. And galaxies with different colours can merge. So that is not a good marker. But here in this case you are right. This is not a merger. The object at the bottom is a foreground star from our galaxy. So it is not possible that it is interacting with the central galaxy.
Happy hunting ! 😄
