Is this a galaxy or a gas cloud?

I've been staring at this for a while, and can't tell what it is. Doesn't look like any kind of galaxy I've ever seen before.

It is not a gas cloud. They don't shine by their own light, they need something near them to light them up, and they have even pink or blue colours.

Some of the galaxies are hard to classify. I would stare at it too. It could be several things, an irregular viewed edgeon, or smooth cigar shaped with disturbance. When 10 people classify differently, there will be a scatter of data, and this is still useful information, it says that the galaxy is difficult to classify.
