Foreground star ? unreported supernova

Blue star appears in skyview and here,but not on the SDSS picture. Shouldn't it show up on the SDSS if its a foreground star?

Good catch: it's likely a #SNe (supernova) not recorded in Vizier, of which host is a starforming galaxy SDSS J111933.80+254348.5 at redshift 0.091
http://skyserver.sdss.org/dr12/en/tools/explore/Summary.aspx?id=1237667429032067112 .
From DECaLS viewer:
Source RA,Dec = 169.8916, 25.7296
Source type: P
Mags: g=19.99, r=20.02, z=21.57
Brick: 1698p257, Objid:
Number of exposures: g=2, r=2, z=1
and from FITS header of http://portal.nersc.gov/project/cosmo/data/legacysurvey/dr2/coadd/169/1698p257/decals-1698p257-image-g.fits :
FILTERX = 'g '
DATEOBS1= '2015-04-12T02:48:09.482' / DATE-OBS for the first image in the stack
DATEOBS2= '2015-04-12T02:53:09.672' / DATE-OBS for the last image in the stack
Likely too old for having a confirmation by a follow up spectrum now a year after imaging 😦

Thanks, Even if it is to old to follow up on. Its still interesting and its the first time in the zoo I've seen one. I did see the 1987a from our backyard so I saw the real thing.

Ooooh! did you see SN1987 without binoculars?
There are links to supernova in SDSS here

Yes, we saw SN1987 without binoculars. It was the first time the Magellanic cloud had a star we could see. Usually the clouds are just like a dusty blob. If you really want to see the night sky you have to come to the southern hemisphere and especially in winter.
