Does it look like merging? AGZ000bj9p

  • ratprincess by ratprincess

Not quite sure whether this object is irregular or the crashing of two objects together.

Can someone shade some lights on it?

Feeling like a fluctuating piece of error--shifting in all direction classifying without a golden standard.

Old habits die hard, I guess, because I was a trained coder for human interaction and coded thousands of types. lol

There isn't a golden standard for a lot of these images ! Just give it your best shot and answer the questions as well as you can. We have proved time and time again that we (as a collective) are just as good as any 'specialist' on their own ! And we can manage much larger databases ! ;D

Don't over think things and just have fun !

    Happy hunting ! πŸ˜„

    Thanks, Elisabeth!

One question ... I realize that most of the images have only a z<1. The pictures I have been classifying, I figure they were not taken by Hubble?

Yes, the galaxies that we are looking at now have had their spectral chart taken, and will have a redshift z value.

Somehow my sentence was not posted completely. The z values seem to be less or far less than 1. This is why I wonder whether Hubble took these pictures?

The images we are classifying now are from the DECaLS survey (GZ part 1 DECaLS), so definitely not Hubble ! πŸ˜„

A z value of 1 or more means the galaxy is very far away, getting very small and very red. See

Thanks... the universe of my ignorance definitely expand faster than the universe whose speed of expansion just got revised. lol :-X
