Red line twice the size of a galaxy?

  I wonder what the red line might be. Does anybody have any idea?

  The red line is a cosmic ray hit.

  So, the ray hit the observation equipment while the data was being processed? Or did the telescope catch it?

  Yes tje cosmic ray hit the plate under the camera. It did not come through the telescope. We are bombarded by cosmic rays all the time.
