  The star at the top seems to be a foreground star from our galaxy I think, but the bright object to the right of the galaxy could be #merging. Also seems to be a faint red star in the centre right of the galaxy

  The bright white object, top left is indeed a foreground star from our galaxy. And so are almost all the small round objects in this image, including the faint red one to the right of the galactic centre.
  Definitely no merger here.
