Are these merging galaxies?

  I am slightly confused about this galaxy. As the shape is irregular I was thinking that it is two galaxies that have just merged, but I am not sure. I hope someone can clarify this for me.

  No one can say for sure without extensive research. I think it is likely, as you suggest, that the galaxy has had a recent merger. It is very blue with star formation, and an irregular spiral.
