Suspected processing or lens artifact?

In this image there is what looks like a handling mark in the form of a slightly curved line running diagonally ,top right to bottom left slightly left of centre. I imagine this is sone sort of processing or lens artifact. Can anyone explain ?

It is an exceptionally long cosmic ray track on the ccd "film".
