Different picture on SDSS SkyServer

  • aghisla by aghisla

The picture I got on GalaxyZoo is blurred, while the one provided by SDSS SkyServer shows a smooth, rounded galaxy. Should I privilege the picture on GZ even if it is unclear?

    Hi aghisla,

This is another example of a ferengified (http://tinyurl.com/j6frzzx) image of a galaxy. This is where images of galaxies are artificially redshifted. In SDSS you can see the original image. But here in GZ you should (try to) classify the image given. Just give it your best shot, but in these extreme cases : star/artifact is perfectly acceptable.

Hope this helps and happy hunting ! 😄
