Anything wrong with SDSS Skyserver?
-
by ermesy
For the last couple of days whenever I've tried to look at an object in skyserver.sdss.org, the accompanying pic is blank with only the message :
Requested (ra,dec) is outside the SDSS footprint
Despite that, all of the usual technical information is present including the spectrum. Object 1237652946917064774 is an example.
Anyone else having this problem?Posted

Further to this problem - I've just tried browsing the Help topic on stellar and galactic spectra here :
and have found that most of the photos posted there are also blank with "Requested (ra,dec)..." msg. Whatever is going on, it doesn't seem to be unique to skyserver.sdss.org.

I'm not an expert, but n the short term, use SDSS dr12, and manually fill in the co-ordinates. http://skyserver.sdss.org/dr12/en/tools/chart/navi.aspx?ra=132.74897&dec=11.65616&opt=
I'll contact someone in admin to see if the trouble is on Galaxy Zoo end or SDSS end.

If I go on the SDSS website it has the same problem, so I don't think it has to do with Galaxy Zoo Talk. Maybe they are doing spring cleaning.

I've notified SDSS of the problem and apparently SDSS.org is down. They are working on it.
