Why are there two massive clear spots? If they are dust lanes why are they so much bigger than usual?

I'd classify this one as a two-armed spiral. So, the gaps are where there are no arms. Definitely no dustlanes here.

Hmmm.... Strange... and difference of opinions. Wierd dust lanes I think I'll contact a scientist.
Nothing in NED, vague shadows in other images. It has an artifact look about it, but it is best to be sure.

Looks like a loose spiral to me. Not dust lanes. Something like the middle spiral in this set of examples (but much further way, so this is the best view we get): http://cas.sdss.org/dr13/en/proj/basic/galaxies/spirals.aspx
