Elliptical?

  • GoldenRule by GoldenRule

So my questions about this are basic. What are the lines from the poles and why is there a disk but still looks elliptical?

you can have disk galaxies without spiral arms. They're called lenticulars. So, I'd classify this one as a barred lenticular.

That's where I'm confused though if this is a disk galaxy how is there a disk one way, then the massive disk a different way? It seems to be elliptical with the big Halo but is also a disk. Lol I'm not sure if I'm asking the question correctly. But thank you for your help it's appreciated as always!

Also I couldn't find if those are actually jets, what's your opinion?

Bright objects can produce optical artifacts and distant objects are notoriously difficult to image. Stick to basics.

I do when I classify them. But my curiosity wants all the answers.

Whoa ! Why shouldn't people try and find out things about the objects they classify !

I'd say : Go for it ! And keep on asking questions! 😄

There are such things as a galaxy withing a galaxy. see MaNGA

Relativistic jets are tiny features seen in a few nearby galaxies. Here is information.
