Which galaxy images are simulations?

    How do I know if the image I am classifying is a simulation or a real image of a galaxy?

    Hi Gwind,

    If you see 'Illustris' it is a simulation, SDSS and GAMA are real. Also Illustris images look quite different from real galaxies.

    Hi Gwind

    As Ghost_Sheep_SWR says if it says Illustris it is a simulated galaxy. You can see that both on the classifying page and here in Talk. On the classifying page you can find it to the right of the word 'Classify' and here in Talk you can find it underneath the image.

    And to be fair, some Illustris images are not that different from real ones. But you get to recognize them really well after a while ! 😄
