Red line

  I checked the picture through examine to see what the red line was, and its a huge red star or artefact.

  The red line is probably a diffraction spike (optical artifact) caused by a very bright star just outside of this image.

  That was what I thought, so I had a look at the larger image ('cos I'm nosy like that!). There is what looked like a very large red star, which looked quite interesting.

  the star is a 10.5-magnitude M-class star called TYC 5017-718-1
