merge? but very irriregular

seems to be like 2 galaxys merging, but the one on the left has such a strange shape, and if you look closely it has "tentacles" leaving it from below.
any ideas?Posted

Given the distortion in the bluer (left) galaxy, it's quite likely these two are engaged in an interaction, possibly a merger. The relative lack of distortion in the yellow (right) galaxy may be due to its greater mass, or lack of gas and dust (or both), or simply a projection effect (i.e. it's really very distorted, but from our POV it appears relatively undisturbed).
