A merger plus..

This looks like a merger and als there is a ring of galaxies around it. Any suggestions?

It's an ETG (early-type galaxy, almost synonymous with 'elliptical'), and appears to be near the center of a rich cluster (hence the many smaller galaxies nearby, though the 'ring' is - I think - your brain seeing a pattern where one does not exist). With these types of galaxies, it's hard to say if there's any merging going on ... near the center of a rich cluster, you expect to see lots of overlaps ...
