Merger example

I would label this as a merger, though perhaps it would be more accurately called a "ripping each other to shreds" phenomena.

It looks pretty cool in SDSS too:

Two merging galaxies, or three? Within the central (IR image) mess, what appears to be two nuclei may be a nucleus and a dust-choked region of intense star-formation. What do you think?

I'm just another engineer but if ever there was a fine example of a merger, this would be one. Notice the shared material and what appears to be a broken hub on the right galaxy.
