pink galaxy or star

  I'm not sure what exactly this is but the color fascinates me.

  Hi and welcome to the Zoo,

  That is a elliptical galaxy, the pink colour at the centre is an optical artifact caused by the really bright core of the galaxy.

  When we look at SkyServer and NED we can see this galaxy is reported as having a QSO (quasi stellar object) or quasar at the center, that would account for the brightness!
