    Looks like it's near the center of a rich cluster of galaxies, at a redshift of ~0.16:

    It's quite possible that at least two of the galaxies - near the center of AGZ0002l8a - are interacting/merging; it's also likely that at least one is not, being either too far in the foreground or background (or, perhaps, both).

    Unfortunately, there's no SDSS spectrum, so all we have to go on is the image, and the data in it. One thing that's possible with just the underlying image data is to construct realistic models, containing x non-interacting galaxies, and see how well they match the data. Sadly, however, that's likely a bit beyond the skills of most (almost all?) ordinary zooites.

    Wonderful image, whatever is actually going on, all those millions of light-years away! 😄
