Begginer: is this a galaxy or a cloud?

  • danColo by danColo

I'm not sure how to classify this, I mark it like a spiral with 2 arms and no bulge, but it's quite fuzzy and could be a gas cloud?.
Sorry if I'm doing it wrong, I just started a few minutes ago.
    Cheers

    Welcome to Galaxy Zoo, danColo!

'Classify it as you see it', that's the way to work. For me it's a two-arm barred spiral (face-on, or close to it), with no bulge.

The only 'gas clouds' in SDSS images are, as far as I know, variations on planetary nebulae, supernova remnants, and HII regions. All of which are in our own Milky Way galaxy, and none of which have the kind of symmetry of this object (galaxy).

    Happy hunting! 😃
