Why is the image green?

Does anybody know why this image is so green and the galaxy is only just visible when the image is inverted?

Something went wrong with the imaging - looks like there was a problem with the green filter.
By the way, welcome to the Zoo 😃

Hi atomicscratch and welcome to the Zoo !
Apparently, you found a part of the atomic scarf, a region where the imaging and the filters really misbehaved.
Here's the extremely zoomed out image :
If you get something like this again, just click star/artifact.

Happy hunting ! 😄

I've seen this particular one before; it's a patch of sky in the constellation Cassiopeia, near the Andromeda galaxy. It seems to have been added in a more recent Dr8 sweep, with, as you can see, randomly overexposed green, blue, and red filters. There are other areas of the SDSS sky like this, but this one's the largest and worst.
