Is the 'red thread' real, do you think?

    Seemingly connecting the blue star (SDSS J152955.55+344943.0) in the center with the edge-on (or highly inclined) spiral above it (photometric objects in blue circles, in the second image):

    The 'red thread' is certainly in the SDSS JPEG image (the processing I did did not add anything that wasn't already there), and it may be in the cleaned SDSS data (e.g. the relevant FITS files; i.e. it is not an artifact of how the JPEG image was created from the FITS original) (I guess it should show if I were to get the FITS files and process them, using DS9, for example).

    Much of the red stuff, in the image, is surely noise (and there's more red which my processing did not pick out), but the 'red thread' seems just a little too well-structured to be noise (to my eye anyway).
