@ElizabethB - This is not a star ! It is a real galaxy. At these distances it is not possible to see individual stars or planetary disks.

OK. Could you give more info. What distance is this object?
Can you see the very small bright central spot inside a continuous bright ring? They are clearly brighter than the rest of the structure, is there any other example of a galaxy showing a definite bright ring around a central bright spot?
I don't see any evidence for a 'jet' like structure. So now I'm interested, where could I find more info on what could cause such an appearance?

Stars are always round. The bright ones can have diffraction spikes (optical artifacts). So, here the shape is a dead giveaway that this is a galaxy. The 'ring' around the bright center and the darker dots are optical artifacts.
