Strange faint blue spots on a star cluster

What are those faint blue spots on that cluster?

Presumably star formation? - this selection of "illustris" galaxies seem to have a number of shots like this that only "kind of" fit any classifications. I always "invert" but.... - they remain a bit of a puzzle!

Yep - faint blue in Illustris always indicates star formation. A follow-up to the current questions we're asking may focus on the arrangement and prevalence of these, as they're clearly something you don't see in the SDSS images. However, our primary goal is to compare the simulations to SDSS, and so we're using the same exact classification scheme. So mostly the blue star formation bits should be ignored unless they seem to be tracing the underlying structure, like particular spiral arms or a merging galaxy.
