Strange object

There is a strange object by the lower left of the center galaxy. It could be a super massive dust lane. Whatever it is it's blocking a lot of light coming from the galaxy

The bright object on the lower left is a foreground star and the dark line running through it is an artifact.
When really bright objects are encountered by CCD devices (the cameras we use on telescopes), they tend to over saturate the pixel on the camera and we are left with a black spot!
Remember we want to classify distant galaxies, not objects within our own galaxy, so it is not important for us to image it.
Hope this helps!
