One or two galaxies - what is going on

I wonder if this is two superimposed galaxies (at different distances but same line of sight) or whether the smaller round one is being absorbed by (merging with) the larger spiral one? Alternatively, might the round bright area be a supernova?

Hi abigail2105 and welcome to the Zoo
The smaller round bright object is a foreground star from our galaxy. No merger or supernova here, sorry !
Happy hunting ! 😄
