Early galaxy with interesting components

  • PattyD by PattyD

Makes me wonder how early this accumulating galaxy is. Also trying to figure out whether the orange ball is actually part of the accumulating mass. There are 3 red dots in front of the infant galaxy and may simply be in the line of sight.

The blue balls seem to be ascending a spiral from this point of view.

    Hi PattyD

This is a simulated gaalxy from the Illustris data set.

See here for more information : http://blog.galaxyzoo.org/2015/09/21/new-images-for-galaxy-zoo-part-2-illustris/

The blue dots are star forming areas in the galaxy. (http://blog.galaxyzoo.org/2015/11/11/blue-stuff-in-the-illustris-galaxy-images/)

The red dots in the image are foreground stars from our galaxy and so are not connected in any way with the central galaxy.

    Hope this helps ! 😄

    Happy hunting!
