multiple galaxies?

  Can you explain what is happening here
  it almost looks like multiple galaxies being merged into one?

  Without additional information it is not possible to tell if these galaxies are interacting. The small one at 12 o'clock is not distorted, so it could just be a line of sight. The brighter blobs in the galaxy could either be active star forming areas in the galaxy or just foreground stars from our galaxy.
