Strange object in the image

Is this a local satellite or something like that or just a complex lens flare of something from the bright star in the image? Only just starting doing galaxy zoo, so not sure if this is common or not.

It is a star, which is given diffraction spikes by the telescope. Just an artifact but pretty.
